Hello Friends,

Haven’t posted in forever and a day!

P is officially studying to take the LSAT, so I no longer have a life. I work all day and come home to cook, clean, and craft (the 3 C’s of the rest of my 2012!).

We’re working hard to save money to pay for Law School, so I informed the family that I’ll be making most of their gifts! Oh, how naive I was. We’re a little over a month away from Christmas and I almost have my first present done. Wow. That’s just bad.

Wish me luck and head to my “Nifty” board on Pinterest for some cool tips & DIY ideas!

Lazy Day + Embroidery

Hello!

Been busy busy renovating our bathroom…
Yes, we started in May.
No, it’s not that big of a bathroom.

Last night we chilled and listened to The National on P’s record player.
ImageI did some crappy embroidery!

In comparison to the pillow I made last month…

I love embroidering. And crafting. I’m looking for more fun projects! Check out my Pinterest board called “Nifty” for tips & DIY fun!

Thanks,

Has it really been a year?!

ImageCue cheesy line: Sometimes it feels hard to believe that it’s already been a year together.

Oh, don’t get me wrong, it hasn’t been a cake walk! We fight, we cry (well mostly I cry), but these things have only brought us closer together.

Yep, behind closed doors we’re that mushy-lovely-dovey couple. In public, we just try to look cool ;D

Exciting times

I lounge on the couch, while P flops uncomfortably around the living room. Both of us are glued to our laptops, busily comparing and updating our LinkedIn profiles and running search after search on SimplyHired.

Big changes are coming, but things are still up in the air. Let’s just say, we’re working even harder on getting the condo finished, and we’re going to need some boxes soon…

Curtains!

Finally got around to putting up curtains!

Before pic (from previous owner)

Got to use the power drill all by myself, and now working on hemming the curtain up. Just painted the wall, thus the exposed outlet.

After!

Luckily, I had help from these two studs!

More to come!

Home update!

Well, a month after we started redoing our bathroom, we still aren’t done! Yup, life happened and the renovation was put on hold. I would post a pic, but it’s painful to look at. SO messy!

The living room is about 70% painted (still trying to get rid of the green that pervades EVERY corner of the condo).

We purchased some lovely curtains to put around the sliding door in the living room and took down the slats that were there before. Hope to have them up by the end of the week!

More updates (and pics!) to come,

~M~

To the Newlyweds

I’m sure I’m going to come back to this post and add more on later, but I really think the number one thing that all newlyweds should be told (because they aren’t being told it now) is this:

The first couple months can be very hard.

Don’t set unreasonable expectations for your spouse post-nuptials. You say you won’t, but you subconsciously have been doing it all along. Becoming married doesn’t mean an over night change in a person to where they’ll be bending over backwards to bring you whatever you need.

Be realistic, be understanding.

Say you’re sorry after a fight. Always. Even if you won/were right.

More to come,

M

Best birthday.

Best birthday…and it hasn’t even happened yet!

Birthday is coming up & P is taking me on a vacation AND…drumroll please…

We’re redoing the bathroom!!!

“Ugly bathroom, prepare to meet thy doom!!!” – Renovation exclamations!

Yup, it’s actually happening! First tile, then vanity (possibly an IKEA hack), and more. I’m on cloud nine.

Happy Monday,
M

Cats = Training for Children

*sigh*

We have two cats now. Koshka is our big Russian Blue mix (her name means “cat” in Russian, clever aren’t we?). Sterling Archer is our new little boy. He certainly lives up to his namesake; we now have to hide all paper towel and toilet paper rolls so he won’t shred them while we’re gone or asleep or not paying attention. His middle name should have been “Dr. Chaos.”

Sometime last night, they must have decided that their litter box was too dirty, so they proceeded to pee on a pile of clean laundry. P was kind enough to not wake me up to inform me of this until he was leaving. So here I am, up two hours early trying to sniff my way through the WHOLE house to make sure I’ve cleaned up every last spot of stink bomb. Thank God for Nature’s Miracle.

Wish me luck,
